After the brake drum is off the hard part begins -- getting that old cable out. Once you get the cable end disconnected then you have to remove the unit from the brake backing plate. All the cables I've worked on were held in place by "prongs" that have to be compressed in order to go back through the hole it is mounted in. A little trick I've used over the years is a hose clamp. Just use the clamp around the cable much like using a piston ring compressor to install a piston. Hope this helps.
