I spent my first years in a farming community in California. At noon every day, the town's air raid siren would go off and the entire town would shut down for lunch. This went on for many years. Not sure if it still does but I expect not. Later in life I worked at a ship yard in Alameda, California. It had a ships horn mounted to signal shift changes. You could hear it from a long way off. To this day, you can buy locomotive air horns on ebay but they are a little pricey and I wouldn't recomend them for a PW. I do have a small air horn that I am trying to mount, but I can't figure out a good place to put the 5 gal air tank.
