The de-clutch lever is NOT used under power. It is used to free-spool, the re-clutch. Winch operation is then controlled for, inside. Vis forward, reverse, and foot clutch.

The dogs are undercut, to make them self-locking under load. NOT for use under power.

If you have a hard time operating the de-clutch lever in non-powered operation, the grease needs to scraped out, cleaned up, and replaced with something with lubricicitationess, instead of roofing tar.

Lube the linkage pivots too. But not the brake parts.
