there were forced ou in the bail out of 1979/80. they said no more medium duty trucks, no more motor homr chassis, and wind down the marine division. International was also bailed out back then and were forced out of the light truck biz. there light trucks had become cobbled together messes by then anyway. Just like 70s mopars were some of the ugliest cars in history. And the full time 4x4 they and GM had for 5 years allowed Ford to accel because no one liked the full time. Ford still had locking hubs, with a few exceptions, on most of thier 4x4s.
