Probably work better on plastic MCs in modern cars.
Another iption I've seen is the "speed bleeder" screws. Replaces the stock bleeder screw with one that has a check ball built into it. Connect the hose loosen the bleeder and just pump. Comes with some sort of thread sealant on it to prevent sucking air.
Seen them at some of the big autoparts stores but I'm sure you can get them online. Just have to know what type of bleeder thread/size you have.
