In snowed hard on Tuesday, then a little freezing drizzle, then light snow constantly. The city boys aren't getting out into the residential areas much with the loader so I've been driving the old M37 around town. Fired up the '56 Tucker Sno-Cat today and made a couple loops around town just to see if it seems okay to go up in the hills. Started right up, but had to turn the idle way up so it wouldn't stall. The idle mixture screw has no effect. Even turned all the way in it keeps running. There's no vacuum anything on this engine. Does have the thermostatic heat riser unlike the '52. I can't remember if I ever rebuilt this carb or not. Maybe it's just stale gas -- most of it is several years old. Seems to have plenty of power when the speed is up, so it should be okay That's the one I broke the axle shaft and U-joint in trying to get it going when it was frozen to the ground. Learned my lesson so now it's sitting up on a pile of snow. Has all new axle seals and some new bearings in it now too, plus completely re-wired. Still needs an air cleaner, but there's not a lot of dust in the air when you're driving around in the snow.
