Most of us understand and feel the emotion behind this act, and a lot of us get some sense of satisfaction in seeing our boys do this to people we consider to be less than human.
However, I don't believe this type of act should be condoned, not only because we are supposed to be better than that, but also because, contrary to some people's opinions, it does nothing but enrage the enemy and serve as a recruiting tool for them. We don't need any more of them fighting against us. However, I hope the penalty for our boys in this case is not harsh, as these guys are under a lot of stress and it is bound to be difficult to just "turn off" the emotions. I am not in their shoes.
As for the idea of bombing them back to the stone age and making them shake in their boots at the thought of confronting America, a part of would like to think that this would work, but then it also comes to mind that those people have already been living in the stone age, so it's probably not much difference to them, except that the extremists amongst them will be able to recruit more jihadists to fight against us. They are used to living in stone-age poverty. And they are used to conflict.
Unfortunately, the media and the politicians jump all over this and make it a bigger deal than it needs to be.
