Let's see: two 6x6 Dodges X 3 bearing sets each = 6 total. Just south of $4,000.00 with shipping to Costa Rica.

That does not take into account the six special pinion oil seals (3 per truck), all the gasket sets, the 12 outer hub seals, the 12 inner hub seals (24 hub seals total between two trucks).

Then we have 24 wheel bearings - what are the chances that none of those would have to be replaced? There are the upper and lower steering knuckle cones that are almost always trashed (and need to be checked since everything from the knuckles out needs to be pulled apart to remove the axle shafts in order to remove the front pumpkins, and 8 axle bronze bushings. With three pumpkins, at least one will probably have broken off teeth on the ring and/or the pinion.

Then with 16 axle shafts (counting the two-piece front shafts) chances are that maybe 4 will be bad? 3 ruined spider gears and side gears from trying to get the broken axle shafts out. Steering knuckle wiper seals, boogered up wheel studs, worn out brake shoes, at least one or two brake drums that will be beyond service, and probably half a dozen ujoints that fall apart when removing the driveshafts in order to remover the pumpkins.....

Total cost for the parts - 5 figures
Total hours spent making repairs - 3 figures
Total dose of reality - priceless
