Being a contractor and having built buildings of this type I can tell you one thing for sure. I've never seen a building that was TOO big. Go for the most building you can afford from the start. If that's not possible plan now for future expansion in your layout. The day may come that you wish you had another bay on just because. The type of building may depend on your local codes and your wallet. I've done metal and wood frame. There are combinations of metal frames with wood purlins and girts. One this I see is the drain under your lift. You will help yourself by moving this towards the door. The first time you drop that little bolt or part you'll understand why I say this. You have a mezzanine in your plans. If you go with wood construction and trusses then use sissor trusses in that area for added height. I would check with your insurance company on the use of a wood stove. We had one which had to be removed or we lost coverage on our building. If you want to burn wood go with an outside boiler. This will be cleaner in your shop and eliminate air flow problems. But to each his own. I am starting a 36 x 44 shop for a fellow Dodger and we are using stick frame with trusses and metal siding. We are using 1/2" CDX roof sheathing and a standing seam roof. You have a plan and your work areas planned out so you are ahead of the game. Good luck
