Buffer should be a variable speed, use the speed that the compound calls for. That goes as well for the buffing pads. Different pads give different finishes, same as the compounds. By the looks of things, you figured it out on your own! Sometimes things just come together in a good way without all the tech stuff! I'll bet you could comb you hair in the reflection of that finish!
