I couldn't find new nails that size.

So I recycled the old ones. Plus yellow 'Super Weatherstrip Adhesive'.

The factory must have used a nail gun on them spiral nails. Or was it some kind of pneumatic pusher with a hook the curled around behind, like a 'C' clamp? Wish I had one of whatever it was, it's hard to find the holes when using nails.

I found split rivets locally and made a setting tool by cutting the threads off of a 3/8 bolt and grinding two arcs in the end with a cut off wheel. Looks like a 'uu'. In use the tails of the rivet hit the bottom of the 'u's and curl rigth around, just like the factory job. You need a helper to buck the heads when upsetting.

Split rivets are also used on the front fender welting, the 'T' shaped stuff.
