It is chromed. I was EXTREMELY lucky and found a NOS Military windshield frame. I mirror polished it before taking it to the chromer, I took out all the flaws and tooling marks. They were reluctant to let me polish stuff at first but once he saw the work he said, "You can polish anything you want to and bring it in." They did nothing but send it out. It was a dip and ship for them and he gives me a discount because of that.

The place I used was Metal Brite in Dayton, Ohio. They don't do the plating as I said before, but they use 2 different places that DO have the permits and such. The few pieces I had them do were plated by Dayton Wire Wheel. The other one they use is Holman. The way I understand it is, they are allowed a certain amount of waste by their permit. If they are under their "quota" the do chrome for private business. No polishing, just, the chrome work.

Dayton Wire Wheel are very high quality and they do good chrome (copper, nickle, chrome) There is over 30 hours in sanding/polishing in that and to pay someone you're looking at a lot of $ and this was NOS. I was going to powdercoat my original till I found this one.
