For the showers with the Kerdi system I have hung regular drywall in showers,and to tell you the truth,it just doesn't seem right.The tile installer insured me it would be fine and he would guarntee it.He has a cardboard box lined in Kerdi , in his showroom, that was been holding water for 4 years.
I still think that cement board over building paper,and epoxy grout is a good way to go.
