Hitch casting proves early year, 46-7?
I got it from a WWII vet who got it direct from the Navy, circa 1960. Navy did the dump mod. Good job, tail gate slides up, then opens from bottom to dump like a real dump truck. Also detaches completely. Floor has a flat sheet welded over the old floor, rusted old floor is falling away in chunks. Pretty darn straight metal otherwise.
Bows in the pic are 2x3 legs with sawn plywood top arches. I needed a cover to hid the Dodge parts. Cool cammy job on the bill board vinyl, eh?
Differences between GI and civvy are ball hitch, no brakes, and stake pockets on civvy.
I may get to a resto on it next year. Meantime it's storing the sheet metal for my current PW project.
