2WD parts trucks are easier to find at lower prices.

If you're keeping the divorced t-case, make sure you have enough room for the 2WD tailshaft. A five speed married to a NP205 is commonly preferred.

You will find the NP205 in the '93 and later trucks.

the '94 and up trucks will have a chain dirven T-case with the front output on the driver side. The NP205 from an early Dodge Diesel will bolt to the back of the later t-case.

The early trucks used the Getrag 5 speed. the '94 and up trucks use the NV4500. You need the bellhousing and flywheel housing to go with the Nv4500 or an adapter bellhousing from Advanced Adapters.
