The 56 C4 model and later PW's used the NP420 trans. Look for one of those and not the M37. The M37 can be used, but it has a different shift tower/lever. You can expect to pay $500 to $1000.
When shifting your current trans, shift at lower mph speeds or rev your engine higher.
