It's not too bad of a job. Follow the manual. A barring tool on the flywheel makes it a lot easier to get the motor to TDC. Lock the pump, use a puller to separate the gear from the pump, and don't drop any bolts in the gear housing. I think it took about 5 hours the last time I changed one, which was in a friends garage on a Colorado snowboarding trip.
