Well tha Charger name was used on a K-car derivative for a while in the 80's, I think it was the Dodge version of the Plymouth Duster, which was used even longer.
Honestly Dodge needs something decent in this market badly. Their current offering is far from competitive. The multi-air technology is good stuff, and assuming the European build quality comes with the car it should do quite well in a market that is becoming a lot more important.
