After Bunker Hill went down, you could have your pick of a dozen houses in Kellogg for $15K or so. Even in the time I've lived in Wallace, which has only been since '95, I've seen one house go for $5000 and a duplex go for $7500 and an old car. Of course when the houses are cheap anywhere it's because nobody wants to live there. Later, after the place has recovered or become trendy, everybody wishes they'd bought when it was cheap. But if you talk about buying while the place is still undesirable, everybody says "Why would you want to buy a house THERE?" I hear you can buy houses real cheap in Detroit these days. The boom is over around here, and people are getting houses for under $40K. Kellogg isn't quite that cheap but it's heading that way. Most of those condos are in foreclosure, and the hoity-toity golf course subdivision where they were trying to sell lots for $300K ("The Meadows at Frost Peak") is still empty. So, you may still get your chance.
