First they say, "many politicians – including current US president George W. Bush", which tells me the site is a bit dated. And then the rest of it just promotes alcohol as the cure for all our oil problems. I think the jury is still out on whether or not alcohol actually returns more usable energy than it took (mostly in petroleum) to make it, but alcohol is certainly nothing magic.

Want to do something really significant and practical to reduce our dependence on foreign oil? Build some synthetic oil plants to convert our abundant coal and natural gas into liquid fuels, including gasoline, diesel, and jet fuel. The technology is 80 years old and you're using energy that was already stored in the ground millions of years ago rather than trying to make new energy out of sunlight by roundabout means that use up lots of land, cause lots of pollution, and may not even be a net energy gain.
