73 hp must be a the rating for a forklift motor? My Scout is rated around 90 hp. The turbo adds about 10 hp to that. The Nissan diesel is rated at 3800 rpm. It would be hard to find another diesel that will wind that tight and be driveable without changing the gearing in the Dodge. It's still a pig, but pretty comparable to the flathead. For a work truck or offroading, I'd rather drive the diesel. Even the smokey unit in Mike's Scout idles more consistently, and pulls steep hills more reliably than the carbureted flathead. The diesle will never vaporlock or be susceptibel to burned points or a wet distributor
