You guys really get some people who need a serious attitude adjustment. Maybe it's because they can see your place from the paved road. The trouble is the idiots are gradually spreading farther and farther into boonies and some of the guys that were born in the boonies seem to have forgotten what their grand-dad taught them. I used to have a little button that I found in my grandmother's stuff, looked like it was made in the '40s, that said, "Practice good outdoor manners all year around". "Good manners". It's a simple idea, isn't it?

It's easy to think of all things you'd like to say to the yahoos that think your place is theirs, and it's easy to think of ways to keep them out, but the trouble is that unless you're patrolling constantly, there's no way to keep them out. The somewhat responsible ones might obey a sign, but the worst of them won't. Since you can't be on guard all the time, there's a down side to pissing them off. I have a lot of nice (in my view) old trucks on my place and I really don't want all the glass getting shot out of them. So far, I've never had anybody mess with my stuff except years ago when I was gone working all summer, some tweeker broke into the cabin and stole some tools.

People are hard to get along with. Sometimes it's hard to figure out who to be friendly to and who to give visions of squealing like a pig to. I usually reserve the latter for drunks from Spokane on ATVs.
