In Germany our Volvo had MPH and KPH, and there were these little red dot/bumps too, they were underneath a suggested speed for shifting the manual transmission. Once, early on, while driving down the Autobahn my wife asked, "What are those little red dots for?" I told her those were brail, so blind people could reach down and feel so they'd know when to shift.
We got about a mile down the road before I got hit.
