I agree that the unpressurized system does not place much demand on the gasket, but I still had hoped for a rubber gasket by purchasing a new part. The paper one that came in the cap that I got from VPW years ago never seemed particularly durable. It showed signs of coming apart very shortly afterward. The good thing is that since it is a non-pressurized system, I never had too much issue with leaks. And of course, most of the excess fluid will come out of the overflow tube first, anyway.
