There's a saying that "If it ain't grown, it's mined." I'm posting because we understand that here more than most people do. To most people, cell phones come from a factory just like milk and eggs do. Yesterday another man died a mile underground here working in a mine, at the very start of that long chain of manufacturing that eventually puts products on the shelf at Wal*Mart and cars on the dealer's lot. They're sinking a new shaft down to 8800' below the surface. Somehow he got caught in some moving broken rock in a chute or bin and was suffocated. I doubt his death will make the news, even though the only time the ore-consuming public hears the word "mine" on the news is next to the word "pollution" or "accident". This mine is a big producer of lead, silver, and zinc, all of which are mighty useful things to have. It's worth keeping in mind that good men work hard, and sometimes die, digging them out of the ground. They don't just appear at the back door of a factory somewhere by magic.
