1948 B-1 Power Wagon

Have sandblasted all parts except cab. Treated cab and removed all paint. Need to resweep parts again since its been awhile, but looking for a primer to buy me some time.

Can you apply the primer direct over the sandblasted steel? Any particular finish better than another. Not taking all dings and dents out, just looking to get a truck back to work in the woods. I work in a shipyard so we apply zinc to alot of parts because it provides ongoing protection. Wondering if I can apply zinc to parts sort of as a holding primer. Combat rims included.

Any good durable finish for combat rims too?
