if you moved the radiator to the front of the core support everything should fit. your 1/8 inch piece of steel seems inadequate to extend the mount. I would use at least 1/4 inch. the flatheads are quite heavy, I think about 600 pounds with accesories. I have done that conversion by drilling and tapping a piece of 3/8" steel and bolting it ot the stock mount and drilling the other end and bolting that to the cross member. I put a Z bend in the steel to retain the correct engine height.
