no GM went overhead valve way back in the teens or 20s. there were a few others as well. unfortunately they did not upgrade the bearing design on the rods and mains till way later. everyone else ha gone to insert modern type bearings and GM stayed with splash feed oiliing and pured bearings too long. and Chrysler and Ford stayed flathead too long. but a dodge 218 flathead had more HP than 216 stovebolt. they arll had there pros and cons.
