The state just financed demo and rebuild of a highway bridge over the train tracks west of Dover. I don't know the full story, because it was hushed quickly, but the inspectors caught the contractor using shorter bolts than they were supposed to on some of the pillars supporting the span. I heard they were trying to weld onto them to make them longer. Good thing only about 4 cars at a time can be on the thing, unless, of course, rush hour traffic out of Dover to Newport. Ha
