We call them door checks. If possible cut the shaft and add, weld and then prep. Good luck. Over the years cars had preaty heavy duty door checks. The last 15 or so years they break all the time. Make noise and are a pain in the rear. We change them at work all the time. When you do a lube and oil change on a car you are suposed to lube the door hinges and checks. Un less your at Speedy Lube.
