you can try to work around this truth to varying degrees, but it all comes back to the above. put a diesel in your truck - diesel currently costs more than regular in ny. your diesel gets 20 mpg vs the flathead's 10. OK, how many miles do you have to drive to make the difference in mpg pay for your conversion? your diesel engine will last longer than a flathead. true, but it costs more to install and your truck is no longer orig. do what makes you happy as that is the only economic equation that applies to old iron.
