The other thing when dealing on ebay is that disputes are "settled" by ebay/paypal, and they can and will suck money out of your bank account if they decide against you. If you say you accept returns and then for whatever reason decide not to accept a return from one particular jerk of a customer, ebay doesn't care about your reasons. The dispute and feedback processes are automated and people lie all the time. I had one auto parts vendor who charged my credit card but never shipped the part (never, as in 6 weeks of waiting), ignored all of my requests for a refund, and then when I left them negative feedback (after putting a chargeback through on my credit card), immediately responded with feedback claiming that they'd offered me a refund many times. Ebay could easily look at all my attempts to communicate with this outfit and see that their feedback response was a lie, but they don't.

Being sued isn't really an issue, but trying to get a real person at ebay to listen to your story and deal with it in a reasonable way is like trying to deal with the IRS. Better to be on the safe side with ebay to protect yourself from jerks, and then still deal in a forthright way with your good customers.
