1960 - 62 Dart cars were billed as compacts just so Dodge would have something in the "compact" market. They were actually full size cars. The wheel base was shortened by 4" to call it a compact. 1963 started the "real" Dart which was a true compact. I suspect the '61 Dart pickup was just a marketing ploy as well.
