I'm no expert but I believe there are some significant caveats...

The stock carb and fuel pump will not "like" living with methanol, it's corrosive to most bare aluminum alloys.

Methanol has a stoichiometric roughly half that of gasoline. Thus, mpg will be roughly half that of gasoline. So you will have half the range with the same fuel tank.

The stock fuel pump may not be able to keep up(has to provide twice as much fuel to the carb than with gasoline), I don't know.

You will need to setup the carb to provide the extra fuel for the same amount of air passing through. Then, once setup this way, it will only run on methanol/ethanol.

It will produce up to about 20% more power than with gasoline due to it's energy content being at about 60% of gasoline.

Research for yourself and then go have some fun with it if you decide it still makes sense.
