Yeah, hardware store runs are out of the question, unless one stops on their way to or from a car show. And, if I had my trucks registered and insured as "antique vehicles", and I loaded 2-ton of sand at the quarry and killed someone on the way home because they could not "see" me coming and proceeded to pulled out in front of me, I would be sent up the river.

Bottom line, antique plates are for Power-Wagons that do not get used as they were intended, if you live in Illinois that is.

Now, I could probably run "Farm" plates as Martie raises plants. Those would be cool but the costs would outweigh the rewards and I would not be able to get personalized farm plates. I would have to take whatever number they gave me.

I pay for personalized B-truck plates: 47 WDX, 51 B PW, and some others from trucks I had and sold. I can carry whatever I can load and I don't have to stop at scales. Now, if I were stupid and loaded gravel to the top of the side boards and a cop stopped me for a busted tailight, he would probably call out the portable scales and fine me for being overweight.
