Glad to hear you're driving your Power Wagon as we need more guys like you continuing the tradition.

I recently bought a "restored" 61 WM300, new wiring harness, etc. I was a bit too confident in what the last owner had done and didn't check the wiring myself. Going to work in the dark about a month ago it was damp and cold enough to have to put the heater on high. I had run it before and no problem, but the extra pull on the wire caused a large spark and flash and smoke. I shut down the heater and went back home. Here the person who did the wiring had pulled the heater wire tight across another wire that had a fray. The extra voltage created the arc.

The guy had also wrapped the wire behind the cowl vent extension. While I had opened the vent about halfway before, if I would have pushed it all the way I would have snapped the wire.

Needless to say, I've rewired things correctly. So, understand that these types of experiences can happen to all of us. Keep driving that truck, fuse it, get a remote shutoff and carry a fire extinguisher. Good luck.
