Thanks. Sounds like I'll have to make some kind of puller, but I can put the stripped block aside and save that for a winter project. If I'm lucky there may be room to get a bearing puller behind the hub and somehow hook the hydraulic puller onto it.
I'd figure on saving any of the guts that weren't scratched -- maybe even the crank and the non-bent rods and any okay pistons. I was sorry to see the fuel pump busted, because those are hard to come by. My spare engine has one on it, but I'm sure it'll need rebuilding with an alky-resistant diaphragm.
I'm surprised the bellhousing isn't bolted to the crank somehow (underneath the clutch) what holds it from working its way backwards in normal use?
