Almost finished refurbishing this truck for the WV road rally. This is the truck that was stored for 30 years in a basement.

Had gas tank renewed. Rebuilt front and rear axles with new bearings, bushings and oil seals. Replaced tie rod ends. Put in all new fluids. Did a complete brake job with new master cylinder, wheel cylinders and rubber hoses. Installed new exhaust and rebuilt fuel pump. Ran Sea Foam and No-Smoke through it. Filled the crankcase with non-detergent motor oil. Played hell with the carb getting the float set right. Truck would run fine for 15 minutes and shut off. Ran a new fuel line from the tank thinking the rubber line was collapsing or the hard line from tank was blocked or leaking air. Turns out the heater hose was in contact with the line from the fuel pump to the carb. Tied the hose to the radiator support rod and problem solved! Cleaned and gapped the plugs and filed and gapped the points. Rebuilt a pair of Warn hubs. Put on a set of wheels from another 46 WDX with Xtra-Grip tires.

Took the truck for a few road tests. Climbs my hill in 3rd gear except for the 11% section at the very top. Still need to re-bleed the brakes, install the wipers, check the toe-in, adjust the steering gear, and put the truck on my insurance. May route the down draft pipe to the rear to lessen the fumes in the cab. Nasty stuff. Otherwise, should be good to go for the trip. Thanks for the help guys (you know who you are). Look for us on the highway this weekend.
