if the engine turns over and no water in oil
or oil in the water then rule out mechanical for the time being
if gas down the carb did nothing then rule out fuel for the time being
you will need to replace oil fouled plugs for sure
do what chris suggested
remove dist cap and inspect ign points should
be smooth with no peaks if not so then file down & reset (matchbook cover gap will work)
a volt & ohm meter would be a big help check
to make sure the little wire from the coil to the dist housing is not grounded out (ohm meter) then check voltage to coil from bal resistor (on firewall)
when you put the dist cap back on make sure you have the little spring loaded carbon contact in the center of the cap (makes connection to roter)
