My engine books for the 318 pretty much stick to passenger cars. But they do mention that a larger truck thrust bearing is available with 40% more area. Also, that there are or have been rear main bearings with two grooves in them to help prevent excess oil from getting to the rear main seal.

Rather than buy a set of bearings for the passenger car engine and then buying extra bearings, I wonder if a truck bearing set is availabel with these already in it. I prefer Clevite 77. The local auto parts stores can't tell me as it is a special order bearing set (the "blister-pack" pirates - if it ain't in a blister pack they don't have it).

Anyone rebuild a 318-3 who can tell me?
