"Budd" wheels also refers to the method of attachment to the hub for dual rims. The inner rim is attached with a piece("Budd" wheel stud) that is threaded on the inside and outside and has aa angled end which locates into a countersink in the rim. The inside threads screw on the hub studs. What is left is the external thread and the outer rim is placed on these studs. (they must all be tightened before the outer goes on) Then the outer rim is attached with big nuts 1-1/2". The "Budd" wheel studs have a 3/4" square to tighten. There was also a larger standard (nut-1-3/4,square-13/16). There is an impact socket which is double-ended and fits both nuts and studs. It is used with an impact wrench with an extended shank or an impact extension. Newer trucks do not use this attachment. Their rims locate on a machined part of the hub and the lug nuts attach both rims at one time. One advantage to true "Budd" style wheels is if you need to change only the outer just drive the inner tire over a block and remove the outer, the inner stays attached.
