Dave,

My transmission casting number is C38126. I couldn't find any numbers on the PTO housing.

I was thinking perhaps I could take the main drive shaft (splined shaft) out of my PTO, and put it in the 3/4-ton PTO, but when I spoke with VPW, they seemed to think the rear cover plate on the 3/4-ton PTO has a different bolt pattern than the one from the flatfender Power Wagon. I compared the picture in my 3/4-ton manual to the actual part I have, and they look the same. If I put new bearings on the shaft, then the only original wear surfaces on that will remain on that shaft will be the splines where the sliding gear moves, but I don't think these would ever cause any problem.

I looked at your PTO photo. It looks like the part of the housing that contains the sliding gear might be a bit smaller than the one on mine, indicating a smaller gear may have been used. What condition are your 3/4-ton units in? Have you had any of them apart to see?

Thanks much,

Matt
