np445 question

I have never run the 445, is it a good unit? I would like to try one behind my /6 but wanted some feed back before I bought one. I was told that they are hard to get serviced, is that true? Anybody own one? Are they a joy to drive? I have a close ratio 435 now but would like that syncro 1st gear as I use all four everytime. Thanks Jerry Turben
