There is no reason to test drive your truck until they need to appraise it. If they need things like the VIN and mileage walk out with them, open the door so they can get what they want, and then lock the truck and put the keys in your pocket. Some dealerships will return the keys to you, some will hold them until you ask for them, some will even 'lose' them to keep you there. Since I keep a gun in my truck no one gets in it until I have removed it. Of course you do get a strange look sitting in a dealership with a gun in your lap. 8^)
