Junior well said,I never had time with my Grandpa to be taught like you.In my life I had three brothers two of which taught me the love of mechanics and machinery. My family owned a Mobile gas station where we all worked and learned from the bottom up.this was during the days where Tires,Batteries, and Accesories sold out of the shop along with mechanical repairs made your profits. During this time I learned the basics of repairing things and through out life I was never shy about asking someone with more knowledge or experience to share what they knew. Sometimes you would run into a "Jackass " who wouldn't share any advice with anyone because they were better or thought they where smarter, they were the exception not the rule.
In this day and age where autos will be routinely driving 250 to 300 k before wearing out, it makes me appreciate a 6 volt system with points and Armstrong power steering and adjusting valves and the smile I see when driving past someone who gives you a thumbs up while you are smelling the perfume of 90 weight and oil soaked dirt blowing in the breeze.Life seems simpler in the old iron.
