I have the exact one in my barn that I picked up at a garage sale as not working. It turned out to be a bad on/off switch. I don't know what the original switch looked like but the bad one was a regular house light wall switch so I replaced it with the same.
I went to use it this summer and got electrocuted. I thought it might be the switch wires grounding out but its not. I haven't had time to trace it out.
I see your on/off switch has been customized. Was that wooden electrical box made on the radial saw? Make sure that toggle switch can handle the current and you might want to check for shorts before plugging it in.
If you find an owner's manual please send me a copy.
