Chris, I've been using an older Dewalt radial arm saw for many years, way before chop saws were "the norm". First, I must say Sears saws were never very accurate, maybe the first ones were ok but most I've seen aren't very accurate, (too much play). I really think radial arm saws are safer than table saws for the simple reason that you have to hold the piece of wood with one hand against the back board, and hold the saw head with the other, it's hard to get your hands in the way of the blade when they aren't near it. As long as you hold on tight nothing can happen. Table saws can throw pieces of wood like arrows at you, and evrything is always flying at your face, like little knots etc. I've hurt myself on a table saw many times. Anyway, I know radials arms are out dated and scarey looking but from first hand experience with them I truly believe they are safer than table saws.
