I was rummaging through my old surplus stuff and came across a few feet of some stuff marked TITEFLEX 11012. It appears to be a spiral-wrap material made of several layers of fiberglass and red silicone rubber, and just the right diameter to wrap around the fuel line of that M37 without a heat shield that vapor-locked last summer. I'd guess the stuff is about 3/8" ID and 1" OD. It looks to be extremely heat-resistant. I googled it to see if I could buy more and didn't come up with anything, though.

Anybody heard of this stuff? Is it some secret military product or is it available to civilians, maybe under some other name? It seems like it would be really good for preventing abrasion of tubing and wires that rub on things too, especially if they rub on hot things.
