I may have spoke to soon. The wire color at the switch should match out back. Key on engine off should be power on one side of the switch at the trans. Jump it over with a paper clip and should have power out back. 97 may not have a body module. Not much load just the light bulbs. Should only be a fuse. I have seen guys wire in a trailer plug and really cut up the rear wire harrness. Good Luck. Bill.
