I'm recalling that min FH is ported, above the throttle plate at idle. You don't need no vac adv at idle.

And vacs are for mileage, not performance. At WOT, there is no vaccuum, so no advance. But they do kick in a bit more at light throttle, getting more power out of the same gas, so better mileage. Also, they seem to smooth out the power- they just run better with a vac unit.
